Metrology Technician | East Lansing, MI
Salary Range: $51,000 - $78,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities- Perform calibration, verification, and preventative maintenance of measurement equipment and gages.
- Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other advanced metrology instruments.
- Analyze measurement data, identify deviations, and generate detailed inspection reports.
- Troubleshoot and repair measurement instruments, fixtures, and systems.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Develop, document, and maintain calibration procedures and work instructions.
- Provide technical support to production and quality teams on measurement techniques and equipment usage.
- Proficiency in operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other precision measurement equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, optical comparators).
- Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
- Experience with calibration procedures, measurement uncertainty, and maintaining traceability of measurement standards.
- Familiarity with metrology software packages (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and data analysis tools.
- Associate's degree in Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with non-contact measurement systems (e.g., laser scanning, vision systems, structured light).
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, CATIA) for model-based inspection or CMM programming.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles and software applications in a manufacturing context.
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or other relevant metrology certification.
