Treasury Investment Specialist
Position within the Real, Opportunistic, and Absolute Return Division (ROAD) of the State of Michigan Retirement Systems (SMRS) pension fund. Responsibilities include making recommendations for investment purchases, sales, and holdings in companies or limited partnerships across specific industries, managing investment portfolios, and providing investment analysis and asset‑allocation recommendations.
Remote WorkEligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Onsite work is required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Applicants must provide a safe, appropriate workstation and reliable internet access (minimum 25 Mbps download, 5 Mbps upload).
SalaryTreasury Investment Specialist 13: $34.88 – $50.60 per hour
Territory Investment Specialist 14: $40.18 – $58.00 per hour
Treasury Investment Specialist 15: $44.48 – $65.69 per hour
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or real estate management/financing.
- Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Treasury Investment Analyst (P11).
- Bachelor’s degree in any major plus a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation may substitute for the education requirement.
- Certain positions require specialized experience and may carry certain subclass codes.
- Designation as a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) may be required for some roles.

- Official transcripts must include institution name, degree conferred, date granted, coursework, registrar signature or seal, and recognition by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. Applicants residing outside Michigan must relocate prior to appointment. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
Interview ProcessInterviews may occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience is required; instructions will be provided to candidates.
