Summary

Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Officer, plans, coordinates, and provides total nursing care for Community Members and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members. Scope of work may be modified by state specific rules under the Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications
  • CNA/MA certification required, plus experience
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Five year experience in Assisted Living preferred
Essential Functions
  • Supports the philosophy, mission, commitment, vision and values of Vista Springs
  • Initiates and leads team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans
  • Assesses and documents the Community Member’s condition and nursing needs
  • Accurately and promptly implements physicians’ orders
  • Assigns nursing care to team members according to the Community Member’s needs and the person’s capabilities and qualifications
  • Supervises, directs and evaluates PWPs and MTPs
  • Administers medications, performs treatments for assigned Community Members, and documents that treatment as required by Vista Springs and applicable rules
  • Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel
  • Assists physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice Act
  • Ensures supplies are utilized economically and equipment is cleaned and maintained in a safe manner
  • Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding Community Members
  • Coordinates nursing care of Community Members when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments
  • Supervises nursing unit, overseeing scheduling and directing the nursing staff
  • Assures inventory and supplies are maintained on the unit and communicates need for housekeeping, maintenance or dietary assistance
  • Promotes interpersonal relationships and develops staff morale
  • Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in Community Members
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
  • Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards of Vista Springs, its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws and professional standards
  • Rotation: MOD

  • Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Community Members and their family members, and at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations
  • Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, finger handle or feel, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms required as necessary
  • Requirement to lift up to 10 pounds, 20 pounds, 50 pounds, 100 pounds or >100 pounds
Vision Requirements
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen while eyes fixed on a point)
  • Depth perception (three‑dimensional vision, ability to judge distances)
  • Ability to adjust focus
Hearing Requirements
  • Ability to hear alarms on equipment
  • Ability to hear client call
  • Ability to hear instructions from physician/department staff
