Nurse Practitioner

Overview

Our Department of Family Medicine is looking for a gerontology nurse practitioner to provide comprehensive care to patients in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities throughout the Lansing community. This academic practice operates within the Geriatrics Division of MSU Health Care and collaborates closely with geriatric physicians and other nurse practitioners to deliver continuity, acute, preventive, and hospital discharge management services.

• Collaborate with geriatricians in a team-based model to provide continuity and acute care.
• Deliver preventive care and hospital discharge management for older adults.
• Work closely with skilled nursing facility staff and support residents, students, and fellows in care settings.

• Knowledge equivalent to completing one to two years of post‑bachelor nursing education (e.g., a Master’s or Doctor of Nursing Practice in Gerontology), or up to six months of related nursing experience.
• Current Michigan Registered Nurse license and specialty Nurse Practitioner certification.
• One to three years of related, progressively responsible nursing experience in a specialized area, or equivalent education/experience.
