Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 based on experience

RN is required for this position.

Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the backyard of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. The Director of Nursing will work a full‑time schedule in the Skilled Nursing side of the community and will be responsible for the supervision, provision, and quality of nursing care in Skilled Nursing.

• Coordinate nursing services for CHR residents, including procuring outside services such as Home Health Care, private duty, hospice, rehabilitation, and psychological services.
• Develop and implement staffing plans for licensed and certified nurses and aides.
• Oversee the completion of written orientation, annual evaluations, MDS data submission, and other required documentation for all nursing staff.
• Ensure all nursing personnel, including private duty staff, hold valid and current licenses per federal and state regulations.
• Participate in resident care service coordination through departmental staff meetings, quarterly assurance meetings, and annual policy reviews.
• Coordinate supplemental in‑service education programs for nursing staff and serve as a resource for facility staff, in cooperation with the Medical Director and CHR Administrator.
• Oversee care plan development and maintain high visibility with residents, conducting frequent room tours to ensure quality of care and safety.
• Act on behalf of the CHR Administrator in their absence, and serve “on call” on weekends and after normal working hours.

• Valid and current RN license in Michigan.
• Minimum three years as a Director of Nursing in a long‑term care/skilled nursing setting.
• At least two years of experience in geriatric nursing and/or a B.S. degree in nursing.
• Participation in professional organizations related to geriatrics preferred.
• NADONA certification is a plus.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate understanding, patience, tact, respect, and courtesy in dealing with residents, families, and visitors.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend instructions in English.
