About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Metallurgist to lead their Mineral Processing operations in East London . This role is integral to optimizing plant performance, improving recovery rates, and ensuring the efficient processing of valuable minerals. You will apply your deep understanding of metallurgical principles to troubleshoot operational challenges, implement process improvements, and contribute to the strategic direction of the processing facility.
The position requires a hands-on approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to mentor junior metallurgists and technicians, working closely with operations and R&D teams to achieve production targets.
- Oversee and optimize metallurgical processes, including comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining.
- Conduct metallurgical test work and pilot plant studies to evaluate new processes or improve existing ones.
- Analyze process data to identify areas for improvement in recovery, grade, and operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot plant operational issues and develop effective solutions to minimize downtime and maximize yield.
- Prepare metallurgical reports, process flow diagrams, and technical recommendations.
- Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards in all processing activities.
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mineral processing metallurgy.
- Proven expertise in the processing of base metals , precious metals , or industrial minerals .
- Strong knowledge of mineral processing unit operations and equipment.
- Experience with metallurgical simulation software and statistical analysis techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively on-site.
