About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geophysicist to join their dedicated exploration team located in East London . This critical role involves the advanced interpretation of geophysical data, primarily seismic, to define subsurface structures and identify potential hydrocarbon plays. You will collaborate closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and management to translate geophysical findings into actionable exploration strategies and drilling plans.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of seismic processing and interpretation techniques, coupled with strong analytical capabilities. This is a significant opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects within the Oil & Gas industry in a key coastal city.
- Execute detailed seismic data interpretation (2D/3D) to map geological structures and potential reservoir targets.
- Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and geological models for comprehensive subsurface analysis.
- Perform advanced geophysical analyses, including attribute analysis, inversion, and AVO studies.
- Assess geological and geophysical risks and uncertainties related to exploration prospects.
- Collaborate with the exploration team to optimize drilling locations and well designs.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and present geophysical interpretations and recommendations.
- Master's degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in geophysical interpretation, with a focus on the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proficiency in seismic interpretation software packages (e.g., Landmark, Paradigm, Hampson Russell).
- Strong understanding of seismic data acquisition, processing principles, and quantitative interpretation methods.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience working in diverse geological basins and with various data types.
