About the Role
Our client is looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong focus on Manufacturing processes to join their team in East London. This role involves designing, developing, and improving manufacturing equipment, tooling, and production processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. You will work closely with production teams, quality control, and other engineering disciplines. Operating within a hybrid work model, this position allows for effective collaboration both on-site and remotely, ensuring robust designs are implemented seamlessly into production environments, driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop specialized machinery, tooling, and fixtures for manufacturing applications using CAD software.
- Analyze and optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Create detailed technical drawings, assembly instructions, and maintenance procedures for manufactured components and equipment.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and technicians to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and production line issues, implementing effective engineering solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies and recommend new technologies or process improvements for manufacturing operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor) and a good understanding of manufacturing techniques (machining, welding, stamping, etc.).
- Experience with automation and robotics in a manufacturing context is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, hybrid setting in East London.
