About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with specialized knowledge in Coastal and Marine Structures to join their team in East London. This role is vital for the design and management of projects such as harbors, jetties, seawalls, and offshore platforms, considering the unique environmental challenges of coastal areas in the Eastern Cape. You will collaborate with a team of experts to deliver robust and sustainable solutions that withstand harsh marine conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze coastal and marine structures, including breakwaters, docks, pipelines, and foundations.
  • Conduct site investigations, including bathymetric surveys and geotechnical assessments in marine environments.
  • Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for marine construction.
  • Assess environmental impacts and develop mitigation strategies for coastal projects.
  • Oversee construction activities for marine structures, ensuring safety and quality compliance.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and contractors involved in marine development projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Coastal or Maritime Engineering.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the design and management of coastal and marine structures.
  • Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA or eligibility is preferred.
  • Proficiency in specialized software for coastal modeling and structural analysis (e.g., Delft3D, ANSYS).
  • Strong understanding of hydrodynamics, wave mechanics, and port engineering principles.
  • Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.
