Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer with specialized expertise in stormwater management to join their team in East London . This role is critical for designing and implementing effective solutions for urban drainage, flood control, and water quality management. You will work on a variety of projects, contributing to the sustainable development and resilience of the region's infrastructure. The position requires a proactive engineer who can apply advanced hydraulic principles and work collaboratively with municipal authorities, developers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure effective water management strategies are in place.
Key Responsibilities- Design and analyze urban stormwater drainage systems, including culverts, channels, and detention/retention basins.
- Conduct hydraulic modeling to assess flood risks and evaluate the performance of drainage networks.
- Develop sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS) and green infrastructure designs.
- Prepare design reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications for stormwater projects.
- Liaise with municipal departments, clients, and contractors regarding drainage requirements and approvals.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant environmental regulations and water quality standards for projects in the Eastern Cape .
- BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Hydraulic or Water Resources Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in stormwater management and hydraulic design.
- Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA is advantageous.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM) and CAD software.
- Knowledge of flood mitigation strategies and water sensitive urban design principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to hydrological processes.
