Our client is seeking a dynamic Agricultural Engineer to join their innovative team in East London . This role involves the design, development, and implementation of agricultural machinery, equipment, and systems to improve farming efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. You will work on projects ranging from mechanization solutions and irrigation systems to processing technologies and farm infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering foundation combined with a practical understanding of agricultural principles and challenges, contributing to the modernization of the agricultural sector in the Eastern Cape.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and test new agricultural machinery and equipment.
- Improve the efficiency and functionality of existing farm machinery and systems.
- Design and manage the implementation of irrigation, drainage, and water management systems.
- Develop solutions for on-farm processing, storage, and handling of agricultural products.
- Ensure that designs comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with farmers, agronomists, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and provide technical solutions.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with agricultural specialization.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in agricultural engineering or a related design/development role.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Solid Works) and other engineering design tools.
- Strong knowledge of farm machinery, irrigation systems, structures, and processing technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage projects from conception to completion.
