SHE Officer, Stutterheim

We are seeking a Safety, Health & Environmental Officer for a permanent vacancy based in Stutterheim, Eastern Cape.

• SAMTRAC Qualification or equivalent & Occupational Health and Safety Act Training Certificate
• Firefighting and emergency procedures training
• Min 3 Years related experience in ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act in a forestry related industry
• First aid/medical response training & computer literacy on MS Office
• Strong administrative skills and valid driver’s license
• Well-organized and meticulous, with the ability to work under pressure
• Able to liaise comfortably within all levels of the company
• Able to meet deadlines and good verbal and written communication in business English
• Ability to communicate in Xhosa would be advantageous
• Good report-writing & problem-solving skills
• Thorough knowledge of H&S systems and legal requirements, with proven implementation ability

• Provide support and guidance to Managers on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) matters within the Group
• Investigate incidents using root cause analysis tools and compile incident reports
• Implement, monitor and enforce compliance to OHS legislation
• Conduct OHS audits
• Review and update safety management systems and related training programs
• Monitor and report on all incidents and accidents
• Provide first responder assistance with medical emergencies (during and after hours)
• Compile and present Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly reports
• Participate in workplace committees and forums
• Assist and participate in fire-fighting operations
• Manage emergency preparedness of sites
• IOD (Injury on Duty) mitigation and management
• Contractor management
• Site environmental management and compliance
• Maintain risk registers.
