JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The IT Technician will provide technical support and assist in maintaining the organisation’s IT environment across multiple sites. This role works closely with the Systems Administrator to ensure the stability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of IT systems and infrastructure. The successful candidate will support daily operations, contribute to infrastructure projects, and assist in implementing technology solutions aligned to business needs.


EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • A+ and N+ certifications (essential)
  • 2–5 years’ experience in an IT support or technical role
  • Experience working with Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft 365
  • Exposure to Active Directory, Microsoft Server, VMware or Hyper-V (advantageous)
  • Experience supporting hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, and biometric devices
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Self-motivated with good problem-solving ability and attention to detail

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate would be required, but not limited to:
  • Deliver first- and second-line technical support remotely and on-site
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot point-of-sale systems and related IT equipment
  • Maintain and support network infrastructure, including LAN, internet connectivity, telecoms, and digital systems
  • Monitor and maintain hardware and software across stores and head office
  • Support and administer Microsoft-based environments and third-party applications (including accounting and business systems)
  • Coordinate and follow up with external service providers on logged support calls
  • Conduct routine site visits for maintenance, audits, and preventative checks
  • Assist with network installations, cabling, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Provide user training and create supporting documentation where required
  • Ensure IT work spaces and equipment remain organised and well maintained
  • Perform additional tasks as delegated by the Systems Administrator
