Mine Safety Officer

Our client is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Mine Safety Officer to join their team in East London . This role is paramount in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel within the mining operations. You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies, conducting inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the site. This position offers a critical role in safeguarding employees and ensuring operational compliance with all health and safety regulations.

• Develop, implement, and maintain the site's comprehensive health and safety management system.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and procedures.
• Identify potential hazards and risks, developing and implementing effective control measures.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training programs and toolbox talks to employees at all levels.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and local health and safety legislation and standards.

• National Diploma in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a mine safety or occupational health and safety role.
• Knowledge of mining operations, associated hazards, and risk management principles.
• Familiarity with relevant South African mining health and safety legislation (e.g., MHSA).
• Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough investigations and develop practical safety solutions.
