Senior Software Engineer; Backend

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with a strong backend focus to join their dynamic technology team in East London . You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance server-side applications and APIs. This position requires a deep understanding of backend technologies, a commitment to writing clean, efficient code, and the ability to collaborate effectively in an agile environment.

You will have the opportunity to architect solutions, mentor junior engineers, and contribute significantly to the company's technical roadmap and product innovation.

• Design, develop, and implement robust backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python/Django, Java/Spring, Node.js/Express). Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for scalability, reliability, and security.
• Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, adhering to best practices and participating actively in code reviews.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and QA testers to define requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and contribute to improving the team's development processes and standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Python , Java , Go, C#).
• Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and/or No
  
  SQL), caching mechanisms, and RESTful API design principles.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), containerization, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
