Location:
East Lyme, CT – York Correctional Center, and Hartford, CT – Hartford Correctional Center. Salary: $60,829 – $78,946 per year. Position type:
Full‑time second shift, Monday‑Friday.
The Department of Correction (DOC) seeks a highly motivated individual to perform inmate identification and record‑keeping duties. The role involves maintaining accurate records, calculating sentences, and overseeing the Identification & Records section.

- Independent oversight of the Identification & Records section
- Maintain accurate facility or parole system for inmate identification and other records
- Develop and maintain contacts with courts and law enforcement agencies regarding inmate sentences
- Calculate sentences for parole and discharge eligibility, including good‑time and other adjustments
- Oversee issuance of notices concerning release, discharge, furloughs, and transfers
- Compile and edit criminal records of inmates through correspondence with FBI, CSBI, and other agencies
- Assign and review unit work for accuracy and thoroughness
- Assist in compiling current statistical data concerning inmates and preparing monthly and annual reports
- Perform related duties as required
- Four (4) years of clerical work experience
- Two (2) years of experience in maintaining, processing, or controlling inmate or criminal records, or an extensive record‑keeping system involving financial, health, inventory, legal, medical, or other records
- College training may substitute for General Experience, up to two (2) years
- High school diploma or GED required by permanent appointment
- Experience in large‑volume records management
- Experience performing arithmetical computations
- Experience interpreting statutes and regulations for sentence calculation
- Experience organizing data for entry into database systems
- Experience working with RT system/MOCHA System & Collect software
- Experience with JEB and JIS systems
- Experience with FOI requests and redaction of information
Incumbents must possess a high school diploma or GED certification by the time of permanent appointment.
Character RequirementsBackground investigation will be conducted before permanent appointment.
Working ConditionsPossible exposure to risk of injury or assault by inmates.
