Job Summary
The Director of Budget and Financial Control oversees areas of budgeting, actual vs. budget analysis, profitability (P&L) of various service lines/departments, capital expenditure management, and workforce/labor management. The Director will be under the administrative direction of the Chief Financial Officer of Care Well Health.
Essential Functions
- Primarily responsible for the following:
- Budget and the Budgeting Process
- P & L by departments/service lines
- Capital Asset/Expenditure Budgeting and Management
- Workforce/Labor Management/Position Control
- Leading the annual budget process
- Review the budgets prepared by each department
- Present the budget to the CFO/CEO for approval
- Finalize and Roll-out the budget
- Conduct monthly meetings to discuss the budget and Budget/Actual comparison.
- Perform financial or profitability analysis of each service line/department using the cost accounting tool and budget and financial reporting system.
- In-charge of Capital Asset/Expenditure management including: working with hospital leaders to identify capital needs, maintaining a 5-year capital plan, assisting in ROI/financial analysis of any capital expense requisitions, and leading a “Capital Committee” to gain approval of capital expenditures.
- Overall responsibility for labor management to include owning the workforce labor management tool and process such as daily productivity, weekly, monthly labor metrics monitoring, and overtime reports, and working with departmental leadership to drive appropriate use of labor (reducing/eliminating premium labor, flexing staff as needed, etc.).
- Manage hospital-wide position control as part of labor management and as it relates to budget.
- Other assignments/duties/responsibilities assigned by the CFO from time to time.

Minimum Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Certified Public Accountant preferred
Minimum Work Experience
- 10 years of budgeting/finance experience in a hospital or an equivalent healthcare industry position.
- Experience in leadership with strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of success with budgeting/financial analysis.
