The City of East Orange is seeking candidates for the position of Business Administrator. The City has approximately 70,000 culturally diverse residents, combining the best of urban and suburban living. Transportation continues to be one of the East Orange’s greatest assets, as the transit village near Interstate 280, Garden State Parkway, Newark Airport and Midtown Manhattan. Roleand Responsibilities
Supervises and leads effective operation of city government, manages all departments, and implements policies set by elected officials.
- Acts as agent of the governing body in the administration of municipal affairs, integrates and coordinates activities of the purchasing, personnel and budget.
- Responsible for emergency management, planning and economic development.
- Acts as a liaison between city staff and elected officials.
- Receives, distributes, or handles questions, comments and problems presented by interested citizens.
- Explains planning, subdivision regulations, and zoning matters to builders, developers, and other interested citizens.
- Prepares and supervises the preparation of reports and correspondence.
- Provide agenda and meets with the governing body.
Nine (9) years of professional management experience involved in setting organizational goals and objectives, establishing structure or determining the need for and developing plans for organizational changes and directing the work of the organization or program through subordinate levels of supervision. Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university in related field preferred.
- Knowledge of the problems involved in the administration of municipal affairs.
- Knowledge of business and of management principles, practices, methods, and techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinates work in situations where numerous diverse demands are involved.
- Ability to maintain liaison and cooperative working relationships with other officials and staff of the municipality.
