What you’ll doWe are seeking a skilled and driven Project Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater engineering
. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is passionate about water infrastructure, enjoys working with municipal clients, and thrives in a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate holds a Professional Engineer (PE) license or has the ability to obtain it within 12 months.
- Lead or assist in the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater projects for municipal clients.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and reports for water treatment facilities, distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, lift stations, and stormwater systems.
- Perform hydraulic modeling, cost estimating, and permitting tasks related to water infrastructure.
- Work closely with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure project requirements and compliance.
- Provide technical guidance to junior staff and designers.
- Support project management functions, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
- Conduct field investigations, inspections, and construction oversight as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional engineering experience, with emphasis in water, wastewater, or stormwater projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD Civil 3D; knowledge of Water
CAD, Sewer
CAD, or similar tools is a plus. - Strong understanding of regulatory permitting processes and local/state/federal requirements.
