Role DefinitionThe Manufacturing Project Engineer role is an important function within US Drivetrain Operations. This critical team member will drive continuous improvement for Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost effectiveness. The selected candidate will manage projects including introducing new capital and new products into production. Additional responsibilities include leading teams to drive safety improvements in the US Drivetrain organization. While running improvement projects the selected candidate will interface with suppliers, customers, and internal process partners to maximize business results.
This position is in the Peoria Area working in Building KK and Building H.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance in major manufacturing projects, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.
- Implement capacity and process improvement solutions with a total plant perspective.
- Follow/exe capital process (spec/quote/gain approval/write PO/receive/place equipment/runoff).
- Evaluate supplier proposals for feasibility, driving changes/improvements as needed to deliver the best solution for our needs.
- Manage supplier execution and delivery.
- Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers and operators in order to develop high quality products and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial concentration) or equivalent experience desired.

Knowledge of best practices and standards for improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of the design, production, and distribution of manufacturing products; ability to create and implement best practices and standards for various manufacturing processes and activities. - Manufacturing Process Design and Development
:
Knowledge of how to develop or design a manufacturing process; ability to establish and determine which processes and parameters should be opted to improve functionality and costs. - Capacity Planning & Management – MFG
:
Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service. - Change Control – MFG
:
Knowledge of the processes and procedures by which a change is identified, evaluated, approved, monitored and documented; ability to manage changes in the production environment and processes effectively. - Lean Manufacturing
:
Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
