Wellness & Recovery Specialist

Anticipated End Date:

Location: Virtual (full‑time)

• Identify opportunities for member and family engagement in a supportive recovery network.
• Develop and implement onsite psychiatric discharge planning education at Recovery and Resiliency sites.
• Collaborate with Stabilization Teams as a member advocate in discharge planning education, resolution of barriers, and service transitions.
• Act as a resource for staff on decision making and problem solving.
• Initiate and maintain contact with assigned individuals and providers to determine member response to services.

• AA/AS and minimum of 2 years of experience in health services or behavioral health field or in a peer support services role; or any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.
• Peer Specialist Certification required.

• Knowledge of care‑coordination and case management concepts strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder treatment modalities preferred.
• Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques preferred.
• Knowledge of use of technology, dual monitors, Microsoft Outlook, Teams, One Note, Word.
• Ability to learn complex systems for documentation, member research, and calling preferred.
• One year experience working as a Peer Support Specialist, after receiving certification, or related equivalent experience.
• Experience working with computers toggling back and forth through multiple screens.
• Experience with researching resources.
• Telephonic customer service.
• Knowledge of the Recovery process and the ability to facilitate recovery using established standardized mental health processes.
• Knowledge and skill to teach and engage in basic problem‑solving strategies to support individual clients in self‑directed recovery.
• Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of mental illness & substance use disorders.
• Knowledge and skills sufficient to use community resources necessary for independent living and ability to teach those skills to other individuals with severe mental illness.
• Knowledge of how to establish and sustain self‑help (mutual support) and educational groups by soliciting input from the mental health consumers on their strengths and interests.
• Proven experience in health coaching and motivational interviewing techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to work proficiently across multiple computer platforms simultaneously.
• Excellent typing skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
