Recreation Leader; Part-time

This is a part-time position responsible for the organization and leadership of a variety of recreation activities including, but not limited to, Senior, After School and Day Camp programs.

• Organizes, promotes, teaches and conducts a variety of recreation activities, such as arts and crafts, sports and games, music, dance, drama, nature study, and special events.
• Assists in organizing, promoting and directing tournaments, shows, social exhibits, festivals and special events.
• Supervises an assigned functional area of the center, such as gymnasium, athletic field, game room, crafts room, etc.
• Coordinates and assists in conducting organizational and Citywide events.
• Plans a variety of activities catering to different age groups and varying degrees of participant skills.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Associate’s degree in Recreation or related field;
  Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in related field;
  First Aid and CPR certification, ability to obtain National Parks and Recreation certification desired; valid State of Georgia Driver’s License; equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of principles, techniques, methods, supplies and equipment applicable to Senior/After School/Day Camp programs.
• Knowledge of good public relations practices and principles.
• Ability to lead group games and activities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and other staff members.
• Ability to maintain records and create reports.
• Ability to supervise subordinate and volunteer work.
• Ability to present ideas and recommendations clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to plan creative, appropriate activities for all ages.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, parents and children.

The purpose of this position is to assist in organizing and implementing recreation programs.

In the absence of the Recreation Center Supervisor, this position supervises volunteers and class instructors.
