Lead BCBA
Brown University Health is seeking a Lead Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to independently provide functional behavioral analytic services—assessment, treatment, and consultation—for patients in the CADD Inpatient and CADD Partial Programs. The successful candidate will also supervise graduate‑level trainees and support the training, coordination, and professional development of BCBAs across hospital programs.
SummaryThe Lead BCBA reports to the Clinical Director/Chief Psychologist/Senior Psychologist and plays a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality ABA services while fostering a collaborative team environment aligned with the organization's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Support onboarding, orientation, and training of new hires.
- Coordinate BCBA responsibilities across programs.
- Facilitate peer supervision both individually and in groups, at least quarterly.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation through chart reviews.
- Implement evidence‑based functional assessments and analyses.
- Conduct social‑emotional skills groups using evidence‑based systems.
- Create and implement behavior intervention plans that promote functionally alternative pro‑social behaviors.
- Oversee implementation of intervention plans.
- Collaborate with clinical team members and communicate behavioral concepts effectively.
- Model flexibility and solution‑focused problem‑solving for challenging behaviors.
- Attend weekly treatment team meetings.
- Provide in‑vivo staff coaching, including feedback on plan implementation.
- Maintain professional relationships with all team members.
- Utilize a functional assessment interview approach with families and staff during intake.
- Use data collection systems for analyzing treatment goals and communicating progress.
- Develop staff education‑training seminars on ABA principles and behavior reduction strategies.
- Participate in family meetings to coach parents on ABA principles and strategies.
- Engage in collateral provider meetings to ensure continuity of care.
- Create fidelity systems for consistent plan implementation.
- Co‑ordinate with outside providers to review treatment history.
- Oversee purchasing and distribution of support materials used in interventions.
- Document assessments, treatments, and collateral contacts in the electronic medical record.
- Master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis or related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of caring for patients across developmental stages and cultural patterns.
- BCBA certification (current or pending with evidence of completion within first year). Certification must be maintained according to BACB requirements.
- Licensure by the RI Department of Health as a licensed Behavior Analyst.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
Minimum five years working with children and adolescents who have developmental disabilities (autism and intellectual disability) and co‑existing behavioral and psychiatric challenges, preferably in a mental health setting.
Work Environment andPhysical Requirements
Normal office environment with daily contact with patients in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting.
Independent ActionPerforms work independently within program policies and practices.
Supervisory ResponsibilitySupervises behavioral interventions/implementation for all patients; does not directly supervise other staff.
Pay Range$69,732.94 – $
