Overview
Roadside Assistance Driver - Flatbed, East Providence, RI. The Roadside Service Tech Flatbed provides safe, best-in-class roadside solutions for AAA members, with a focus on positive member experiences in a tow vehicle or flatbed. Responsibilities include responding to member requests within an ETA, ensuring safety and vehicle security, educating members on potential issues, and promoting AAA products and services. Compensation: $22.00 - $24.75 per hour base, plus comprehensive benefits and incentive pay, with differentials for overnight, evening, and weekend hours.
Shift: Monday, Thursday–Saturday 4:30PM–3:00AM.
- Accept calls and respond to Dispatch or members with ETA to destination.
- Locate and greet members, assess safety upon arrival, manage emotional states, and provide guidance as needed.
- Provide efficient minor mechanical assistance (if trained) and towing services as appropriate; diagnose probable causes and determine best course of action; request assistance when unsure; perform battery boosts and follow safety procedures.
- Maintain service vehicle and equipment, conduct safety checks, manage inventory, follow traffic laws, and uphold the AAA brand image.
- Operate in-vehicle MDC computer to receive and update call information; process payments accurately; safeguard confidential information per club policies.
- Promote AAA products and services (e.g., battery replacement) and coordinate with Dispatch to assist members with destinations or arrangements (hotel, airline reservations, rental car).
- Work independently with minimal direct supervision; adapt to a 24/7 operation with flexible shifts.
- Identify secure attachment points and respond to changing vehicle dynamics when towing or transporting equipment.
- Work under pressure in busy conditions and varying weather and traffic scenarios.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required. - Experience:
At least 21 years of age and post-secondary training in automotive mechanics with familiarity in electrical troubleshooting required. - Licenses/Certifications:
Active and valid driver’s license (state of residence), DOT card (pre-hire and current employee within 1 year), and satisfactory motor vehicle record check during pre-hire and periodically thereafter.
