Subject teachers are informed, reflective practitioners who use inquiry-based teaching strategies to create positive learning environments that motivate and challenge learners to become proactive, life-long learners and leaders. As a member of our Individuals & Societies team, you will be teaching groups of learners between years 7 to 13 (ages 11 to 18). We deliver the IB MYP, IGCSE (Edexcel), and IBDP across the Secondary school.
Responsibilities- Building learning-focused relationships;
- Empowering children to become independent learners;
- Using appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessment;
- Using assessment information to plan progression;
- Differentiating and providing high-quality scaffolding and feedback to learners;
- Encouraging learners to reflect on their learning;
- Engaging learners in setting learning goals;
- Involving parents in their children’s learning through learner-led conferences and regular parent-teacher dialogue;
- Employing and integrating IT to enhance learning;
- Supporting learners to solve authentic problems related to real-world situations;
- Collaborating positively within a team and across teams;
- Meeting the Nexus Teacher Professional Standards, aspiring to grow professionally and being committed to professional learning;
- Involvement in whole-school events and activities as required;
- Working with learners as a form tutor as assigned, helping them set and achieve personal goals.
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE,
B.Ed., or equivalent) - Bachelor’s degree (or higher qualification) in Geography, or a related field
- Evidence of continued relevant professional development
- Experience working with bilingual and multilingual learners and learners with diverse needs
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on IBMYP, IGCSE or IBDP (preferred)
