To provide small group and/or individual instruction in academic content areas. To provide assistance as needed in non‑academic areas such as graduation rate, behavior and attendance.
Position FocusEast Ridge Middle School is seeking PTNB Academic Tutors to provide instructional support in Math, Social Studies (History), and/or Science for students in grades 6–8. Tutors will work under the direction of licensed classroom teachers and school administrators to support student learning through one‑on‑one and small‑group instruction during the school day. Responsibilities include reinforcing grade‑level content, assisting with skill development, monitoring student progress, and supporting classroom instruction to help students meet academic expectations.
Tutors may work within general education classrooms, intervention settings, or designated instructional spaces to provide targeted academic assistance. This position requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with students while maintaining a structured and supportive learning environment.

- Provides supplemental instruction and support to selected students.
- Attends training in the appropriate model(s) implemented in the school.
- Keeps accurate records of student work and academic support provided.
- Provides classroom teacher(s) and/or administration with regular progress reports on students.
- Follows established procedures to ensure assigned areas are safe.
- Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff.
- Attends work and arrives to work on time.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
- Complies with accounting and financial policies and procedures involving the handling of money and property, as well as other Board policies.
- Uses computers and other technology to enter and access information related to essential job functions.
- May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities for content area(s) to be addressed.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students and staff.
