Description:

SIUE invites applications for the position of Substitute Teachers - Charter High School (AP25-036). The Substitute Teacher will perform duties typical of a secondary (grade 9-12) substitute in the absence of a content Faculty Associate, with attendance at required meetings, classes and duties as assigned by the Director.

• Perform duties typical of a secondary (grade 9-12) substitute teacher in the absence of a content Faculty Associate.
• Be punctual for all required meetings, classes and duty assignments, and remain at assignment for an appropriate length of time as determined by the Director.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and performance using recognized effective instructional methods.
• Demonstrate knowledge of behavior management techniques to promote acceptable classroom behavior and enhance student learning.
• Never leave a student unsupervised.
• Other duties may be assigned; shifts and days may vary. Positions are on-call, as needed, after hiring.

• Must possess Illinois substitute teacher certificate through the Illinois Department of Education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of instructional technology tools and data-driven decision making.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products and able to learn computerized individual instruction software packages.
