Manufacturing Production, Machine Operator
Location: East St. Louis
Job Purpose
Operation of a machine in a production shop environment working with steel materials for the production of railroad tracks and crossings. CNC Machine Operator pay starts at $19-22.00 with a $1.00 INCREASE AT 1 YEAR. Quarterly Incentive Bonus for Production may be available if goals are met. - Machine steel parts and rail according to specification
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Use digital calipers to insure accuracy
- Comply with all safety procedures
- Operate overhead cranes
There is currently a day shift opening for a Machine Operator at our Trackwork manufacturing plant in Alorton, Illinois. This position will be (M-Th 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fri 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Overtime as needed, generally on Fridays approximately 7 hours).
- HS Diploma or equivalent education and experience required
- Minimum 6 months of manufacturing and/or machine operator experience
- Ability to multitask; work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to read and write legibly and complete production reports with accuracy
- Must be able to read and use tape measure
- Strong attention to detail with ability to inspect rail using measuring devices
- Must be quality oriented and a team player
- Must have complete understanding of safe work practices
- Strength – Ability to lift up to 35 lbs repeatedly
- Motion – Employee will stand for majority of the shift, will kneel, squat and climb step multiple times throughout the day
- Vision/Hearing Requirements – Must be able to hear and see parts as they are machined, looking and listening for deficiencies and machinery malfunctions. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and nonverbally
- Work Environment – The majority of the time will be indoors, in non-temperature-controlled environments. Position is exposed to oils, lubricants and other substances used in the machining process
- Emotional Demands – Position requires employees to be vigilant to ensure safety of everyone in the area. Requires decisions on the proper operation of machine
- Safety – Position is a safety sensitive position. Position requires following all safety procedures, policies and PPE requirements such that include hand, head, eye, hand, ear and foot protection
