Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Compensation: $33.53 - $41.17 + Benefits

The US hourly rate for this position is $33.53 - $41.17 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Some facilities may be subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. Compensation details reflect the hourly rate only, and do not include benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives such as overtime and shift premiums.

About this Role and About You

Electrical & Instrument Technicians install, repair or maintain electrical and instrument equipment in accordance with manufacturer or site specifications using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring/testing instruments.

Qualification

Knowledge

  • Five (5) years industry experience in instrumentation and electrical or an associate's degree in Instrument or Mechanical Technology.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency is required.

Competencies

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer's literature, diagrams or schematics.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to wear all required protective equipment safely.
  • Available to work overtime when needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace items such as instruments, valves, disconnects and starters to protect personnel and equipment and keep processes running.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair and reassemble equipment such as automatic valves, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Measure, cut, bend and install conduit, fittings and tubing to install or repair equipment.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures.
  • Lock, tag, test energy sources to make equipment inoperable and safe to work on.
  • Plan and coordinate work with other crafts for new work or replacements.
  • Receive training and retrieve OSHA information such as PSM, MSDS, hazardous material lists and safety procedures.
  • Reinforce safety principles and ensure trainees follow standard work practices and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and correct problems with Distributive Control Systems equipment using test equipment to restore operation.
Working Environment
  • Chemical manufacturing plant producing Liquid Alum, ACH and PAC chemicals.
  • Physical capability to work in high ambient temperatures while wearing PPE.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders; lifting within OSHA guidelines.
  • Outdoor elements with radiant heat or cold; rotating shifts.
  • Follow safety guidelines including Confined Space, Working at Heights, Management of Change, Hot Work and Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to work scheduled 8-hour days with occasional 14-16 hour days for emergencies/repairs.
