Family Resource Specialist

As a Family Resource Specialist you're a critical member of the Youth Services team, providing community and home‑based crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and comprehensive case management services for a caseload of clients or as supplemental services to clients served by a Youth Services Family Counselor. Your role includes facilitating family‑arranged placements for youth, delivering psychoeducation services, and referring youth and families for additional services to preserve/reunite the family and prevent placement of the youth in the state child welfare or juvenile justice system.

You will also participate in an on‑call rotation, which may include after‑hours crisis intervention.

• Provide a range of engagement and supportive services to assigned clients, including maintaining a caseload or collaborating with another provider.
• Work in partnership with family members to assess strengths, functioning and natural support systems; provide referral, linkage, and recommendations for aftercare services.
• Deliver community‑based crisis intervention services to address the immediate needs of runaway, locked‑out, and homeless youth.
• Schedule home visits at convenient times for involved parties and complete all required unannounced visits as practice and policy indicate.
• Arrange and/or provide transportation for clients as needed.
• Organize and/or provide services needed to meet the immediate needs of client(s).
• Participate in an on‑call rotation, which may include after‑hours crisis intervention.
• Provide psychoeducation on positive parent‑youth interactions, problem‑solving, adolescent development, and positive parenting.
• Assist families to improve their support systems by offering information about community services and advocacy.
• Mitigate risk and safety issues with the family and report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Department of Children and Family Services per the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
• Participate in community coalitions/collaborations as required by program.
• Meet documenting, record‑keeping, and billing requirements of the program.
• Enter case notes and other required documentation in the client database within specified time frames.

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or another human service field, or equivalent combination of college coursework and professional experience.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Effective listening and trust‑focused relationship‑building skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Compensation: Hourly range $20.45–$22/hour. Additional compensation may apply for bilingual candidates.

• Location: Family Resource Specialists provide in‑home and community‑based services from East St. Louis.
• Schedule: Full‑time, hourly; general business hours with flexibility for evening appointments. Participation in after‑hours on‑call crisis rotation required.
