Job Summary

As a Sustaining Engineer, you will support the continued performance, reliability, and safety of SPX products throughout their lifecycle. You will partner with product development, manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer support to identify technical issues, implement design improvements, and support product enhancements.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical analysis and troubleshooting of products, identifying and resolving performance, reliability, and safety issues.
  • Monitor field data and customer feedback to identify product performance trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and execute testing and validation plans to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams – product development, manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer support – to drive product improvements and implement design changes.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain/Purchasing to evaluate and select components, materials, and technologies that meet product requirements and improve performance.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries, resolving technical issues, and delivering product documentation and training.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including product specifications, engineering change orders, and reports to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date product information.
  • Participate in product design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analyses to identify and mitigate potential product issues and improve performance.
Qualifications
  • Up to 2 years of sustaining engineering or product development experience.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in CAD – Solid Works, Creo, and Windchill.
  • Experience with ASME, CSA, and ANSI compliance and product testing/validation.
  • Experience with boiler control systems, automation, and IoT technologies is a plus.
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Travel & Working Environment
  • Office environment, using a computer and providing oral and written communication.
  • Manufacturing environment may require foot and eye protection when in production areas.
