** Summary
* * Provides direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies as directed by a Registered Nurse. Provides other support services, dictated by patient needs, as a care delivery team member. Utilizes effective and appropriate communication styles. Supports unit and hospital goals and objectives.
** Job Duties
*** Provides care to and related activities for designated patients using a patient/family centered approach and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
* Employs astute observational skills and properly communicates findings, changes, or problems to the RN.
* Uses effective and appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication styles with patients, significant others, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues.
* Functions as a department team member to support unit-based patient experience goals as well as hospital goals and objectives.
* Demonstrates team building skills by participating in the orientation of new staff, as assigned.
* Performs validated technical skills based upon clinical specialty and unit practice.
* Utilizes technology and incorporates technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
* Completes quality control checks on designated unit equipment, if applicable.
* Conducts patient rounds as assigned, anticipates patient needs, and answers/responds to patient call light or pages promptly.
** Minimum Qualifications
*** High School Diploma/GED
* Six months recent experience in direct provision of patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies. or
* upon hire, must successfully complete LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course.
* Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports.
* Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
* Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care.
* Basic computer skills.
* BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association within 180 Days
** Physical Demands
** Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples:
Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
