Assists in clerical and system coordination of the nursing units that support the environment and ensures patients and families are treated in a holistic manner with dignity and respect. Coordinates all nursing unit communications and activities; monitors, updates orders, and schedules diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Job Duties- Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs (temperature, pulse, respiration), I and O (intake and output), daily weights, and other patient data.
- Reports any treatments, results, observations, and patient complaints to the charge nurse.
- Assists team members and performs routine procedures such as enemas and sitz baths; collects and labels specimens and applies hot/cold packs as needed.
- Receives and contributes pertinent information at shift report, patient status, unit activity and condition, and incomplete work assignments.
- Receives, places, and transfers calls using appropriate scripting and telephone etiquette while respecting patient confidentiality.
- Assists in assembling, thinning, restocking, labeling, obtaining and filing reports, closing, and disassembling.
- Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties such as lifting and pushing/pulling while utilizing proper technique and assistive devices.
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1 year of experience in direct patient care experience in acute care, sub‑acute, or home care setting.
- Ability to successfully interact with stakeholders (patients, providers, payors, and community) and other customers, families, staff, management, physicians, and the general public.
- Ability to interpret and adhere to union policies and procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines. - Knowledge of medical terminology.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support – State of Pennsylvania within 90 days.
- Satisfactory completion of an approved nurse's aide course or enrollment in an approved RN or LPN program with completion of nursing fundamentals.
Lift and carry 40‑50 lbs. Examples: push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8‑10 miles per shift. Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
