The Brodhead Creek Regional Authority (BCRA) is currently accepting applications for two (2) full‑time Field Service Technicians. The position is located in Stroud Township, Monroe County, PA.
The successful candidate will have a positive, team‑oriented attitude, good public relations and communication skills, be highly reliable, and able to work independently. Working knowledge of computers is required. Candidate must possess a valid PA driver’s license; a CDL license is preferred but not required.

Position SummaryThe Field Service Technician works directly with office personnel to service customers and accounts of the Brodhead Creek Regional Authority (“BCRA”). This individual will also be required to read and install water meters and help with emergency calls as needed. When necessary, this position will provide assistance on water main breaks or water main installation. This position will also be required to perform Distribution Optimization tasks and assignments as directed by the Distribution Superintendent and Distribution Manager.
EssentialFunctions
- Utilize plumbing skills as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
- Work with jackhammers, tampers, shovels, picks, pipe cutting equipment, tapping machines, and other water main construction tools, lawn equipment, and snow removal equipment.
- Maintain and complete assigned work orders in a neat, organized, and detailed manner.
- Perform Distribution Optimization tasks and assignments associated with the maintenance and inspection of the water distribution system.
- Read, replace, and install water meters of various sizes throughout the distribution system.
- Utilize leak detection equipment to locate leaks on water mains and service lines.
- Perform PA‑1‑Call mark‑outs as required.
- Be able to work with computers and other technological devices as necessary to complete work assignments.
- Work with GPS equipment to collect distribution system asset information and enter data into the appropriate GIS map.
- Complete work in accordance with established BCRA policies and procedures.
- May be required to work, provide assistance, or support the Water Treatment Plant and/or Wastewater Treatment Plant from time to time.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Distribution Superintendent, Distribution Manager, and/or Authority Manager.
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co‑workers, supervisors, managers, and the public under various conditions.
- Work independently at times.
- Demonstrate good public relation and communication skills.
Job requires active work all day long, including being on your feet, walking, stretching, lifting, moving, and climbing steps and ladders. Work takes place indoors and outdoors and includes all types of adverse weather conditions, including heat, rain, snow and cold. Must be able to bend at the waist and to lift a minimum of seventy‑five (75) pounds. Must be able to walk on even or uneven ground.
Must be able to work under exposure to heavy traffic, high noise levels, etc. May be required to work with or be exposed to hazardous materials or chemicals.
- Work hours are currently 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise directed.
- Thirty (30) minutes for lunch.
- Uniforms are provided thirty (30) days after employment and must be worn during working hours.
- Will be required to be on‑call and work overtime, holidays, and weekends with paid compensation.
- No smoking is permitted in Authority buildings, vehicles or on worksites. Smoking is permitted during lunch and break times outdoors.
- This is a drug‑free work environment. Drug and alcohol testing is administered in accordance with BCRA’s Employee Manual.
