The Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is at the forefront of the Sizewell C nuclear power station development - one of the UK's largest and most exciting infrastructure programmes.

We're responsible for preparing the foundations of the entire site: designing and constructing cut-off walls, retaining structures, soil improvements and more. Using advanced geotechnical engineering and world-class construction technologies, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to a national project that will shape the UK's clean-energy future.

Role Overview

As Works Manager you will lead the day-to-day delivery of specialist geotechnical works at Sizewell C, with a particular focus on Diaphragm Wall (D-Wall), P-Wall and soil mixing.

The role will provide site-based leadership to construction teams and specialist subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, to specification and in accordance with the stringent requirements of a nuclear construction environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of D-Wall, P-Wall and soil mixing operations.
  • Coordinate specialist plant, labour, materials and subcontractors.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, methodologies, RAMS and ITPs.
  • Manage construction sequencing, daily production targets and programme delivery.
  • Monitor productivity, plant utilisation and subcontractor performance.
  • Coordinate D-Wall panel excavation, reinforcement cage installation, slurry operations and concreting.
  • Oversee P-Wall/piling operations, including sequencing, installation and quality records.
  • Manage soil mixing operations, including treatment depths, binder quantities, production rates and testing.
  • Work closely with geotechnical and temporary works engineers to resolve construction issues.
  • Identify and escalation of unexpected ground conditions, obstructions and technical issues.
  • Ensure temporary works, working platforms and excavation support are properly managed.
  • Maintain accurate daily records and production reports.
  • Promote a strong nuclear safety, HSEQ and quality culture across the works.
  • Manage subcontractors against agreed safety, quality, programme and productivity targets.
  • Support commercial teams with changes, variations and productivity information.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Works Manager, Site Manager, Construction Manager or equivalent within geotechnical construction.
  • Strong practical experience of Geotechnical works such as D-Wall, P-Wall, piling and/or soil mixing.
  • Experience managing specialist geotechnical plant and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of deep excavation, ground support and ground improvement.
  • Experience delivering complex construction activities to programme.
