Essential Functions:
This position will involve working as a substitute/on-call para educator to assist schools on a program need basis. The positions will be varied, and might include instruction with, and care of, basic education and disabled students in self-contained and regular education settings, recess and/or crosswalk duty, providing clerical assistance, and performing other job-related duties as assigned. All duties of the position will be performed within the scope of Eastmont School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proficient use of English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, basic math and reading skills sufficient to work with and serve as a model for students.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, interpersonal relations, enthusiasm, and ability to work effectively with students and professional staff.
- Demonstrate ability to maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
- Experience with conflict resolution or problem solving processes in an educational setting preferred.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions, directions and procedures, with minimal supervision.
- Successful experiences and expertise working with youth at various age levels is preferred.
- Must be able to successfully participate in applicable in-service training activities to develop appropriate classroom techniques if requested.
- High school graduate or GED certificate required.
- Good knowledge of the characteristics of students with various disabilities.
- Ability to work with individuals and groups of students of varying needs, to support academics and behavior management.
- Ability to complete and maintain basic written reports.
- Ability to maintain emotional control in emergency or stressful situation.
- May work at multiple locations.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff.
- Ability to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull.
- Ability to walk fast and run.
- Ability to be on feet/stand most of the day.
- Ability to lift up between 25 and 50 lbs.
