We are aforward-thinking, well-respected multi disciplined team and believe in aholistic approach to Patient care within our Community. Due to the upcoming retirement of a longstanding member of our administrative team, we are seekinga dedicated and organised Medical Secretary to join our surgery.
This is a keyrole within our practice, ensuring smooth, efficient communication with patients, internal colleagues, hospitals, and external healthcare providers.
Main duties of the jobOur Medical Secretary provides comprehensive administrative support by managing clinical correspondence, overseeing referral processes, coordinating patient communication, maintaining accurate clinical records, supporting clinicians with essential administrative tasks, and liaising with external healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.

Jobresponsibilities
Clinical Correspondence Typing referral letters, reports, and medical documents using accurate terminology.
Referral Management Processing referrals via e-RS, tracking outcomes, and liaising with secondary care.
Patient Communication Responding to patient queries regarding referrals and documentation.
Record Keeping Maintaining accurate, confidential patient records.
Team Support Assisting GPs, Nurses and the Practice Manager with administrative tasks.
Workflow Management Managing tasks and document flow.
Insurance Management
- Preparing and Processing Insurance Paperwork
Minute taking at Clinical and non Clinical meetings
Person Specification Skills/Knowledge- Accurate, highspeed typing for clinical correspondence and reports.
- Confident use of Microsoft Office
- Strong time management and ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication with patients and healthcare providers.
- Understanding of common clinical terms
- Understanding of GDPR, patient confidentiality and information governance requirements.
- Familiarity with eRS and clinical workflow processes (desirable).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Medical Secretary Diploma
- Experience with working in a Secretary role within the NHS
- Experience in working in Primary Care
