The Headteacher and Governing Body are seeking to recruit an experienced, capable and organised caretaker to join our school as soon as possible. The post is permanent, 37 hours a week on a split daily shift, over 52 weeks a year.
Daily HoursMonday to Thursday: 7am-12pm (4hrs) (Lunch unpaid 12pm-1.30pm) 1.30pm-4pm (2.5hrs)
Friday: 7am-12pm (4hrs) (Lunch unpaid 12pm-1.30pm) 1.30pm-3.30pm (2hrs)
The hours above are our preferred option, but for the right candidate and experience, we could negotiate shift patterns.
Holiday Entitlement22 days with concessionary Christmas days determined by BOSCO.
About the SchoolWe are a large, welcoming and inclusive, Primary School located on the beautiful South Coast, with 444 children currently on roll. Our values are an inclusive “Catholic, Coastal and Diverse” approach to all.
We have a beautiful site, with a playground for each area and a lovely field. The grounds are maintained in partnership with BOSCO and the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton.
There is a Nursery on site which is privately run and school manage this through a Letting Agreement.
Role ResponsibilitiesThe role will include being the main key holder and opening up the school every morning, ensuring that the grounds are free from litter, clean and tidy.
- Ensure site is safe and attractive
- Understand Health & Safety and COSHH Regulations and how it applies to schools and maintenance of the school site (training will be provided if required)
- Use their own initiative and manage their own varied workload
- Hard working, flexible and proactive in keeping the site safe and attractive
- Good DIY skills
- Basic ICT skills
- High aspirations for themselves and the school environment
- Experience and skills in a range of maintenance tasks
- Ability to understand COSHH Regulations and undertake assessments (training provided if required)
- Ability to work at height on occasion (training provided if not held)
Inspect and monitor the cleaning standards of our cleaning contractors and work of our grounds contractors and raise any shortfalls against contract specification with the appropriate contacts.
Monitor the work of contractors on site, ensuring compliance with our site rules and Health & Safety legislation.
- Work with the Headteacher to plan the maintenance of the site.
