Healthcare Management, Healthcare Administration
The Prescription Co‑ordinator will play a key role in overseeing the end‑to‑end process of prescription management, working closely with the Office Managers to ensure all systems and procedures are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner. A focus on continuous improvement will be central to the role, supporting the practice in maintaining high standards of patient care and safety. The post holder will also provide support to the wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to the achievement of the practice’s strategic goals.
This role requires a proactive, well‑organised individual who can prioritise their own workload while confidently supporting, guiding and training colleagues across the practice. The post holder must be able to communicate clearly, build effective working relationships, and positively influence staff to ensure safe and consistent prescription processes.
- Design, deliver, and evaluate training for staff in prescription handling, including collaboration with PCN staff and competency sign‑offs.
- Maintain secure storage and processing of FP10 prescriptions, conduct audits for compliance and service improvement, and complete monthly PPA claims.
- Monitor prescription targets, address concerns promptly, and support Office Managers with tasks, emails, and queries.
- Build relationships with community pharmacies and clinicians to resolve complex medication queries, implement recommended interventions, and ensure patient‑centred care.
- Contribute to review and improvement of Prescription Protocols, escalated issues as needed, and act as a point of expertise providing guidance and coaching across both sites.
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain safe and effective prescription services.
