We are looking for an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to join our Children In Care team. The role of the Practice Manager is to lead and support the Councils social work department that makes real differences for children and families. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of effective assessments, interventions, and risk management, ensuring that services are values-driven, outcome-focused, and responsive to needs.

As Practice Manager, you'll provide clear professional leadership by demonstrating excellent practice and creating a supportive environment where staff can learn, reflect, and grow in. This includes offering regular reflective supervision, guiding workforce development and appraisal processes which helps ensure workloads are managed safely and fairly. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards through quality assurance and case reviews.

You will help shape a positive, inclusive culture that values professional curiosity, continuous learning, and strong outcomes for children and families within the wider strategic and legislative context of Children's Services.

The people we are looking for in this vital position will have:

  • Recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with the professional regulatory body.
  • Specialist training (academic or in-house provision e.g. advanced Motivational Interviewing, Adult Attachment training etc).
  • Level 1 Practice Educator Professional, currently undertaking the course or evidence of a confirmed space to undertake course.
  • Communicate effectively in highly charged, complex and challenging circumstances to support professional decision making.
  • Ability to positively promote and safeguard the social work profession within and outside the organisation.
