Volunteer Coordinator

SALARY: £24,975 FTE (Actual Salary of £13,500 per annum for 20 hours per week) + Benefits

LOCATION:

Hybrid working from East Sussex, with a requirement to work from one of the organisation’s properties once a week in Eastbourne, Seaford, Crowborough or Bexhill, with occasional travel outside of Sussex

JOB TYPE:

WORKING HOURS:

20 hours per week, working 3 days per week, ideally Monday to Wednesday

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a rewarding opportunity for a Volunteer Coordinator to play a key role in developing and coordinating a volunteer unit that supports people with a wide range of complex needs.

As a Volunteer Coordinator you will support, guide and encourage volunteers, helping them feel confident, valued and equipped to make a meaningful difference. Volunteers work alongside individuals and families, including survivors of domestic abuse, people engaging in behaviour change programmes and residents living within approved premises.

The Volunteer Coordinator will help strengthen rehabilitation outcomes, support positive behavioural change and ensure volunteers work safely, professionally and within appropriate boundaries.

DUTIES
  • Volunteer Support:
    Coordinate and support a team of volunteers, providing regular supervision, guidance, training and encouragement
  • Referral Coordination:
    Promote services to professionals, assess appropriate referrals and allocate volunteer support effectively
  • Stakeholder Relationships:
    Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, professionals, community organisations and internal and external stakeholders
  • Risk Management:

    Identify and manage risks, ensuring volunteers understand the challenges and boundaries involved in working with people with complex needs
  • Safe Practice:
    Support volunteers to work safely, confidently and professionally, maintaining appropriate boundaries at all times
  • Meetings and Events:
    Organise regular volunteer meetings, networking opportunities, community events and outreach activities
  • Event Coordination:
    Coordinate events from planning and logistics through to supporting volunteers on the day
  • Recruitment and Induction:
    Assist with volunteer recruitment, interviews, induction and training
  • Impact Stories:
    Help volunteers and participants share their experiences, successes and achievements through feedback, case studies and stories of impact
  • Records and Documentation:
    Ensure records, documentation and case information are accurate, current and completed appropriately
  • External Representation:
    Represent the organisation at external meetings and events
  • Safeguarding Practice:
    Contribute to safeguarding, Prevent and the promotion of safe, inclusive and person-centred services
  • Data Protection:
    Handle personal information responsibly and in line with data protection requirements
  • Professional Development:
    Take responsibility for your own learning and development
  • Mentoring Support:
    Support mentor and mentee relationships by facilitating communication, monitoring progress, providing guidance and ensuring both parties have the support they need
