An exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our friendly and supportive critical care team. Applicants should have recent substantive experience at Band 5 level in a critical care environment and evidence of completion of the Intensive Care course.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual who is an excellent communicator, demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, and is forward‑thinking about delivering high standards of care.
Eastbourne Critical Care is an 8‑bed unit comprising 6 Level 3 (ITU) beds and 2 Level 2 (HDU) beds.
Main duties of the job- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for Level 2 and 3 patients within the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide comprehensive patient care and support relatives and families during critical illness.
- Support senior and junior colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to patient care on a shift‑to‑shift basis.
- Take charge of the unit in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Staff development and training opportunities.
- Enrollment in the NHS pension scheme and auto‑enrolment to the Temporary Workforce Service.
- Access to onsite nurseries, staff restaurants and accommodation.

- Onsite parking available from £50 per year.
- Registered Nurse.
- Basic Life Support.
- Willingness to undertake ALS if not already held.
- Recognised teaching and assessing qualification.
- Recognised critical care qualification.
- Completion of the ALS course.
- Minimum of 4 years critical care experience at Band 5.
- Completion of the ICU course – both modules and consolidation for 6 months.
- Experience on general surgical/medical or specialist wards.
- Demonstrates attention to detail and a professional attitude towards completion of the application form.
