Position: Nurse Ward Team Manager - Pevensey Day Unit

Overview

We are a small, friendly team committed to delivering high‑quality patient care and are seeking a Nurse Unit Team Manager for the Outpatient Oncology/Haematology Unit at the Pevensey Day Unit, Eastbourne Hospital.

The unit has 18 treatment chairs/beds for the safe administration of Systemic Anti‑Cancer Treatment (SACT) and supportive therapies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strong leadership, demonstrate excellent communication and support staff development with clinical and professional expertise.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge, participate in research and audit, and work with autonomy.
  • Deliver high quality, safe patient care, organising the department, nursing workforce and prioritising patient assessment, care and treatments.
  • Ensure optimal quality care and patient experience, facilitating safe and timely procedures, and actively participate in the implementation of local, divisional and trust escalation policies.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 1st level Registered Nurse with significant Band 6 Team Leader experience.
  • Degree (or working towards one) desirable.
  • Leadership/management and teaching/mentorship training essential, with an understanding of current professional issues and HR management.
  • Oncology/haematology knowledge desirable but can be developed.
Working Hours

Full‑time role (4 shifts, 08:00–18:00, Mon–Fri, with occasional Bank Holidays), requiring flexibility.
