Overview

Imagine a role where your work directly impacts the health and well‑being of your community. As a Compliance Sampler at South East Water, you protect public health by ensuring every drop of water is safe and meets regulatory standards. The position is field‑based, independent, and offers daily variety as you collect samples from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties.

You will perform on‑site tests, quality‑control checks, and record data in laboratory systems. Your professional interaction with the public is essential; you explain the sampling process to customers. A valid UK driving licence and confidence using IT and handheld devices are required. The role is based at the Pembury, Kent depot, typically from 6:30‑7:00AM to 3:00PM, with a weekend and bank‑holiday rota to maintain continuous compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Collect samples from a variety of locations and conduct water‑quality investigations.
  • Perform on‑site tests and quality‑control checks in accordance with South East Water and the Water Quality Regulatory Standards.
  • Plan routes, self‑manage time, and meet sampling deadlines.
  • Maintain paperwork and electronic records to the required standard.
  • Coordinate sampling with water‑production staff to align with plant operations.
  • Deliver samples to the laboratory in Farnborough during the weekend rota.
Essential Qualifications
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Customer‑service ability and comfort speaking to customers about the sampling process.
  • Confidence with IT and computer skills.

  • Understanding of the water‑sampling process.
