NHS Grampian is recruiting to the above Consultant post in Clinical Oncology, with a special interest in Neuro-Oncology. The successful applicant will join an excellent team of twelve Clinical Oncology Consultants and four Medical Oncology Consultants. They will be based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, on the Foresterhill site in Aberdeen. There are ample opportunities to engage in teaching and research at this teaching hospital and the University of Aberdeen.
The new ANCHOR centre for Outpatient and Day Therapy Oncology and Haematology is due to open in 2026 and will be co-located with the Radiotherapy Department at the east side of the Foresterhill Campus.
- Join and contribute to a team of Clinical Oncology Consultants and Medical Oncology Consultants.
- Be based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (Foresterhill site) and participate in teaching and research at the University of Aberdeen.
- Contribute to development and delivery of outpatient and day therapy oncology services, including involvement with the ANCHOR centre on opening in 2026.
- UK-trained applicants should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview.
- CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post only after CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded.
- Those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Applicants not listed on the GMC Specialist Register may be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made; during locum employment, an application to obtain CESR or Portfolio Pathway Specialist Registration can be made to the GMC.
- Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post).
