Job Summary
A standard full‑time Job Plan will contain 10 programmed activities (PAs) comprising 8 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) and 2 for supporting activities (SPAs). 1.5 SPAs are classed as ‘core’ and cover time for training, teaching, CPD, audit, appraisal, clinical governance and attendance at service meetings. All employees may be required to work across different sites (HUTH, NLaG) depending on service needs.
There will be opportunities to support service development within outpatient and surgical management of complex gynaecology patients. All locums will have induction arranged while commencing the post and additional training provision for Badgernet and Lorenzo.
The postholder is expected to work flexibly to provide on‑call Obstetrics, Elective Obstetric activity (ELSCS, ANC, ADU/Triage cover) and special‑skills related activities that require support, matched with competencies and interest. This may include covering gaps in maternal medicine service and preterm birth prevention clinics. If the postholder has appropriate qualifications and experience in fetal medicine this will be a welcome addition to the team covering clinicians who would be on maternity leave.
On‑call component in this locum post is to fill a gap on the resident on‑call rota.
This includes:
- Resident nights Mon‑Thursday 1:7 weeks covering Obstetrics only (8.30pm‑8.30am) with a second non‑resident consultant support provision to cover gynaecology.
- Resident on call Friday 8am‑9pm 1:7 covering Obstetrics. Supported by a separate consultant covering Acute Gynaecology activity during this shift.
- Business team and Clinical Leads to provide schedule of activity when successfully appointed to the post.
- All employees may be required to work across different sites (HUTH, NLaG) depending on service needs.
- Flexible session relates to specialist skills of the successful applicant and service needs to be discussed with management after appointment. If postholder is experienced and able to cover elective gynae activity service gaps, this will be supported following discussion with senior management team.
