CAD/CAM Programmer – Solid Works
Location:
East Kilbride
Hours:
Monday to Thursday, 4 day week!
Salary: £14-£16 per hour
About the Role
Apex Resources Limited are seeking an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer with strong Solid Works expertise to join our client in East Kilbride. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working from design through to production, programming components to a high standard in a precision-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Create and modify CAD models and drawings using Solid Works
* Generate CAM programs for CNC machining operations
* Select appropriate tooling, cutting strategies, and machining methods
* Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability
* Optimise programs to improve cycle times and reduce waste
* Support first-off inspections and resolve machining issues
* Maintain accurate documentation and revision control
* Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and quality standards
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a CAD/CAM Programmer
* Strong working knowledge of Solid Works (CAD and CAM)
* Experience programming CNC machines (milling/turning – specify if required)
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Good understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
* High attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Desirable
* Experience in a manufacturing or precision engineering environment
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
* Experience with multi-axis machining
* Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification
