Tax and Financial Services Legislative Counsel

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Tax and Financial Services Legislative Counsel to join the team at The Law Officers of the Crown.

The post holder will be expected to undertake high level civil advisory and legislative drafting work on behalf of the Law Officers and to provide legal services to the States of Guernsey, States of Alderney and Chief Pleas of Sark and their respective committees, the Crown and other public sector clients for whom we act and in particular with an emphasis on tax and financial services and also more generally in the following fields –

• the provision of civil legal advice on the whole range of legal issues (domestic, constitutional, international and public) facing government, the Crown and other public sector clients,
• the drafting of legislation for the Island legislatures, that is, the States of Deliberation, the States of Alderney and the Chief Pleas of Sark, and
• the provision of advice and representation in relation to other matters within the remit of the Tax, Financial Services and HMRG unit of the Civil Law directorate.
