Position Overview
Southwark Council is offering an initial temporary contract of 3‑6 months, with a view to extension or permanent placement for a lawyer. The role is based in SE1 2QH
and will be hybrid.
- Significant highways experience, including advising on complex Highways matters and Traffic Management Orders.
- Section 106/278 agreements – provide legal expertise on highly complex issues.
- Ensure services are commercially focused, business driven, and compliant with the Council's statutory and contractual obligations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local government law, especially in Planning, Regeneration and Highways.
- Provide advice on good governance arrangements.
- Desired but not necessary: attend planning committees.
Significant experience dealing with complex s106 and s278 agreements, with a strong understanding of planning, regeneration, highways and local government law.
