Student Monitor

Pay: $13.00/hr; hours will vary depending on building needs.

Exercise student supervision in areas as assigned by the principal/assistant principal. Carry out other tasks as the principal/assistant principal may assign, consistent with the role of Student Monitor.

• Knowledge, abilities, and skills: learn and apply job guidelines daily; understand school rules and basic concepts/techniques of child discipline; interact positively with aides, parents, and teachers; grasp basic structure of public education.
• Characteristics/traits: concern for children’s health, safety, and learning; patience with children’s problems and behavior; willingness to complete district training programs; punctuality, dependability, and solid work habits; good health and moral character; discretion and sound judgment; tolerance for inclement weather.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BCI/FBI background check required; administered at Board of Education upon hire ($47.25 fee).
• One-year Student Monitor Permit required by the Ohio Department of Education ($25 online fee); application completed during hiring.
• Experience with child supervision in public or private sector desirable.
• Training in first aid and CPR desirable but not required.
